The next stop on our Scotland tour was Edinburgh. We spent the first afternoon walking around taking in all the amazing sights. There was a huge Christmas market going on, complete with a carousel and ferris wheel. We stopped in St. Giles Church and ended up wandering around for quite a while because it was so full of history and beautiful things.

We spent the entire day on Thanksgiving touring Edinburgh castle.
It was very easy to spend a whole day, so much to see!

On the way home we stopped for a bite to eat in Berwick on Tweed (some interesting town names here!) and discovered fortifications built during Elizabeth I's reign. These were built when Scotland and England were still fighting each other. As we walked along the "levee" we were able to admire the North Sea. We will definitely be coming back here in the summer. It was beautiful but too cold to be outside along the water for long.
